The Note
Haven't we America always been the land of opportunity?
In fact, the entire Civil Rights Movement was never a part of the Socialist agenda.
To somehow suggest that the answer to the poverty suffered Blacks and Browns is more Quantitative Easing (i.e. the printing of money) or simply more government handouts, is to suggest that more spending without regard for the long term consequences is a workable solution.
The deficit not withstanding, ending (or attacking) private enterprise with the blanket label of greed seriously misses the entire point of the Civil Rights Movement:
the American tradition of Liberty and Justice For All, is about self-empowerment, education, self determination and hard work--not handouts, not more taxes on the middle class, and not the misguided notion that more Americans would give up their freedom of choice, if only the government would come in and rescue them.
PLEASE BELIEVE ME when I say that Socialism will scare off foreign investment.
PLEASE BELIEVE ME when I tell you that most Americans do not accept the idea that the government should do more for them.
THERE ARE NO SHORT CUTS.
But there is no reason to throw the baby out with the bathwater.
We can compromise and reduce College tuition, especially for those families on food stamps as well as those receiving Medicaid.
We can in fact ask the extremely wealthy to enter into a better agreement with America:
Go ahead and keep your vast wealth if you create jobs with it, IF you build new housing for under served Americans, IF you reinvest in educational grants, rewarding students for achieving more.
Although understandably, you might be tempted to reject Bloomberg on the basis of his past mistakes regarding the Stop and Frisk policies he at one time was proud of --if for no other reason that saving lives.
Every politician makes their fair share of mistakes.
What I am asking you to do is to frame those mistakes in terms of the best argument against trump.
No Sanders never made the mistake of stop and frisk, but can he beat trump?
I think not.
Are you, for example, absolutely sure Bernie can beat trump?
Not if he can't win over the fence sitters.
NOT IF HE CAN'T WIN OVER THE SWING STATES.
ONLY BLOOMBERG HAS THE FINANCIAL PROWESS, TO CHALLENGE TRUMP ON THE ECONOMY
Ultimately Socialism is tempting--free tuition and free medical care sound very tempting to the masses of lower middle class folks.
But never has socialism worked long term around the world. The only countries close enough to resemble ours found that out the hard way.
If they bring up Sweden or Finland as an example of how socialism can work, I want you to think about whether or not that makes sense for America. Scandinavia is NOT the USA!
SOCIALISM WILL NEVER WORK IN A LAND WHERE INDIVIDUAL SELF WORTH IS PRIORITY #1
Democratic Socialism is the pig with lipstick. (still a pig) and NOT the right solution for America.
Listening to Warren you might think that being a billionaire is a crime. WRONG!
BEING A BILLIONAIRE DOES NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENTITLE ANYONE TO BUY THE PRESIDENCY
THIS IS PURE BS PROPAGANDA -- PROMOTED BY THE FAR (EXTREME) LEFT.
Both Warren and Sanders insult those of us Democrats who know better.
WE KNOW FOR EXAMPLE, THAT BEING A BILLIONAIRE IS A MARK OF TREMENDOUS SUCCESS. AND SHOULD BE CELEBRATED.
AS CITIZENS OF THE FREE WORLD, WE AMERICANS MUST RISE ABOVE OUR TEMPTATION TO BLAME THE WEALTHY FOR ALL OUR PROBLEMS.
I ADMIT THAT MORE COULD (AND SHOULD) BE DONE TO REDUCE POVERTY IN AMERICA
and I agree that healthcare is A signature issue.
But the secondary issues remain opportunities for the right candidate:
1) Gun Violence
2) Relations with China
3) Domestic Security options that include an ability to work IN HARMONY with Homeland security,
4) Immigration Reform + The Dreamers)
5) Infrastructure
6) US-Russia, Arms Control negotiations and treaties to end the cold war.
if you intend to take on trump in November you had better be ready to discuss your security portfolio.
SANDERS AND WARREN (s & w) HAVE NONE!!!
S & W ARE NAIVE TO ASSUME (OR PROMOTE THE IDEA) THAT MOST AMERICANS DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE WAR ON TERRORISM. or that most Americans do not care about what happens on Wall Street or the ballooning Deficit.
That leaves us with considering Biden & Buttigieg.
Both of whom simply do not have the numbers,
(regardless of whether or not they have plans and specific ideas)
And Buttigieg, who DOES NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY EXPERIENCE
Buttigieg (a mayor of a small town in A SPARSELY POPULATED STATE TO BEGIN WITH) .
Yes, the wealthy must play a central role in that process of returning to healthcare and college affordability.
But it's got to be done according to what we already know works.
Yes: many of us lower wage Americans are jealous of the wealthy.
We may wonder openly whether or not their are some secret plots to make certain people wealthy and keep others from achieving the American dream.
We may even wonder what happened to a workable solution on healthcare?
A universal approach seems to be very tempting.
But we need to remember that America is Not Sweden.
What works for them will not necessarily work for us.
Our societies are very different for one thing.
For another, too many Americans oppose Socialism as a failed experiment.
And History records it as such.
You love your freedom? You love your economic choices?
Kiss them goodbye under Socialism.
In a heterogeneous society much as ours in America --Socialism can never work.
Simply put, there are too many people taking responsibility for their lives.
Democratic Socialism, attacking Billionaires simply because they were wildly successful-- is not just counter productive--it's dangerous.
It takes choices away from the middle class.
Counterproductive at the very least.
IF YOU'RE GOING TO TAKE ON TRUMP IN NOVEMBER YOU HAD BETTER HAVE
1) A SECURITY PORTFOLIO
2) A FINANCIAL PORTFOLIO
3) REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE GOVERNING OVER A WIDE RANGE OF DIFFERENT AMERICANS--including understanding the needs of the immigrant community.
ONLY BLOOMBERG HAS THE WIDE RANGE OF CREDENTIALS NECESSARY TO DEFEAT TRUMP IN NOVEMBER.
yes he is human, and HE IS THE COMMON SENSE CHOICE.
We the Democrats must remain focused on embracing the concept of Equality in order to achieve the political gains necessary to improve the lives of people of color and to break down other traditional barriers to equal justice under the law.
